Experienced Former international Power forward Daniel Simmons (194-F/C-80) put on an amazing game in the last round for Heredia and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 40-year old power forward had a double-double of 28 points and nineteen rebounds, while his team beat Asobasca (#7, 1-5) 82-73. Heredia is placed at 3rd position in Costa Rican LBS. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Heredia will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. In the team's last game Simmons had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Heredia's top player in his first season with the team. Simmons has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 16.0ppg), assists (6th best: 2.3apg) and averages solid 56.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 17-year old guard Jaime Alfaro (185-G-03) of Asobasca. Alfaro impressed basketball fans with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Bad luck as Asobasca lost that game 73-82 to the higher-ranked Heredia (#3, 4-3). This loss caused Asobasca to slide to the very bottom (7) position in the standings. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Asobasca managed to get this year. Alfaro is well-known by Asobasca fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.7ppg (#3). He also registered 5.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was former international forward Yackie Acuna (190-F-80) of Perez Zeledon (#5). Acuna got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. He was a key player of Perez Zeledon, leading his team to a 79-72 win against slightly higher-ranked Siquirres (#4, 3-3). The chances of Perez Zeledon not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 4 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Acuna could try to bring Perez Zeledon's a little bit higher in the standings. Acuna has individually a great season in Costa Rica. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.8ppg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Amir Alvarado (198-SF-84) of Heredia - 20 points and 14 rebounds
5. Harold Mitchell (200-C-83) of Siquirres - 19 points and 11 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
